BonLife Barista Spotlight: Nick
It’s time for another BonLife barista spotlight! Check out the interview below and get to know barista, Nick, a little better.
Nick is from the little town where our roastery is located: Cleveland, TN. He’s been with us for a while now, but he recently graduated from high school and will be leaving us in the fall to move away to college. We wanted to ask him a few questions before he went on his way.
How long have you worked at BonLife Coffee Roasters? “A little over a year now.”
What do you like about working here? “Definitely my coworkers!”
Why did you want to work at BonLife? “My best friend was working here, and it sounded like an interesting job. It turns out, it definitely is interesting! I’ve loved learning how to taste coffee and dial in espresso. I’ve learned so much from the trainers and really everyone who works here. Since I came in with no coffee experience, everything has been so new and interesting to me!”
What’s your favorite part of being a barista? “Giving customers what they want: it’s so satisfying to give someone the exact coffee they want. It’s a very satisfying feeling to know they left with something they like because of you.”
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work? “Definitely music! I love listening to music. I have a few records at home. I love to pursue artists that I like and really listen and try to understand them. Like the Beatles, Paul McCartney and such.”
What’s your go-to coffee drink? “It’s the pour over all the time: I make it at home too!”
What is something you’re looking forward to learning in life? “I’m looking forward to learning more about the career I’m going into. I hope to learn enough to know exactly what I want to do with it. I am about to go to college to study sports medicine! And I have so much to learn about that subject.”
We have really enjoyed having Nick work for us as a barista at BonLife: having baristas who are excited to learn all about the intricacies of coffee never gets old! His cheeriness and chat behind bar will definitely be missed when he goes off to college.
Stick around for another barista spotlight in the coming weeks, and stock up on some of our award-winning beans while you wait.
