Thanksgiving Coffee Ideas!
Turkey Day is coming up soon, y’all! We wanted to share some ideas and recipes for Thanksgiving coffee so that you can bring the most important beverage and be the most popular person at your celebration.
Our first Thanksgiving Day idea is simple: bring a few bags of single origin coffee and make pour overs for everyone or a Chemex to share.
We love this idea because you get to play barista for the day and serve delicious coffees to your friends and family. It will allow quality time with the people you’re brewing coffee for, as you can chat while you make them their drinks.
You can find our pour over recipe here and our Chemex recipe here. We recommend choosing a variety of beans, maybe one that’s fruit-forward and one that has toffee/caramel tasting notes, so you can please a variety of taste preferences.
Our second Thanksgiving idea is an easy drink recipe: make cafes au lait for everyone!
Cafes au lait are equal part coffee and equal part warm milk. This is an easy drink recipe that will impress your guests, and it goes perfectly with pie!
To make a cafe au lait simply brew your coffee in a french press or drip coffee maker. For this recipe, you’ll need a darker roasted coffee like our popular Justice blend which holds up well to milk. Then heat up some milk. (You can boil it on the stove top, steam it with an espresso machine steam wand, or even microwave it.) Fill your mugs of choice halfway with coffee and the rest of the way with milk. It’s that easy!
Our third Thanksgiving coffee idea is to make a few syrups from scratch!
While this idea may seem overwhelming, it’s actually not that difficult! Plus you can make the syrups a few days before Thanksgiving; you don’t have to make them the day of as they are good for up to two weeks.
To make a simple syrup you just bring equal parts water and sugar to a boil. If you want to add a flavor, like a spring of rosemary or a cinnamon stick, toss that in too! Stir until the sugar is melted, and then remove the saucepan from the heat. Set the syrup aside to cool. If you added herbs or fruit, leave it in the syrup as it cools to allow it to infuse. Strain those out once the syrup is room temperature.
Some fun Thanksgiving flavor ideas are orange, rosemary, cinnamon, or even cranberry. You can make lattes with these flavors if you have a home espresso machine, or you can just offer them to guests along with their coffee!
Pro tip: homemade syrups make a great gift too!
Our final Thanksgiving idea is the simplest of all.
If you’re going to be a guest at someone else’s home for Thanksgiving, bring a bag of coffee. Period. Maybe your hosts won’t need it for the actual holiday, but they will be grateful for the thoughtful gift. And, who knows, maybe they’re running low on coffee, and you end up saving the day!
We hope these ideas bring some coffee magic to your Thanksgiving celebrations! As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions about these recipes.
