Papua New Guinea - Korgua Estate

$17.99

Sourcing coffee in Papua New Guinea usually comes with unique logistical, cultural, and linguistic challenges. The country's many indigenous populations are very distinct from one another in terms of custom and language, and communities often comprise only a few hundred people; the communication required to do business in PNG can be more difficult than in other coffee-growing regions. The Korgua Estate in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea was established to bridge these divides and ease the difficulty of doing business in the coffee industry here. Producer Brian Leahy established his Kuta Mill and Korgua Estate as a neutral ground, providing access to processing methods to other producers as well as his own estate. It is now home to the best coffee production in PNG, and it supports the coffee businesses of producers from rival tribes without conflict.

This coffee is one of Brian Leahy’s own, and it is a great example of a high quality PNG coffee. In the cup, it tends to be fuller-bodied and creamier, with low to moderate acidity and a rich mouthfeel.
