Christmas Coffee Ideas!
We shared some coffee recipes and ideas with you at Thanksgiving, and now it’s time for a Christmas edition! Whether you’re hosting loved ones for the holidays this year or showing up at someone else’s home as a guest, this blog post has you covered.
Our first Christmas coffee recipe is to make a coffee mocktail! There are so many fun directions you can go with cocktail-style coffee drinks, and you can find a myriad of recipes online.
Of course, we made one for you though!
Cranberry Orange Coffee Cocktail
2 oz. of cold brew or a double shot of espresso
5 oz. sparkling water or tonic water
1 oz. cranberry juice
.5 oz orange simple syrup or the juice of one orange wedge
To craft this beverage, just stir the ingredients listed above together and serve over ice in your prettiest glasses. Garnish with cranberries and orange slices. You can adjust the amount of water you use to make it taste stronger or more diluted. The orange simple syrup adds a nice amount of sweetness, but if you prefer no sugar just use the juice from one orange wedge instead.
You can always add a little more zest to this recipe with the addition of an alcohol of your choice— turn that coffee mocktail into a Christmas cocktail!
Our second Christmas coffee recipe is the perfect warm & cozy drink for the holiday season: a warm cardamom latte!
We know not everyone has a home espresso machine. If you do, great! Just make a latte or cappuccino however you like and add this cardamom syrup. If you don’t have an espresso machine, this syrup goes wonderfully in a cafe au lait or a coffee with cream or milk. Mmm!
Cardamom Syrup:
200g water
200g organic cane sugar
5g cardamom seeds
1 cinnamon stick
1 lemon peel
10g pure vanilla extract
Toast the seeds in a saucepan over medium heat for about a minute. Add all of the other ingredients, stir, and bring to a simmer. Allow the syrup to simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely before straining into a bottle.
The flavors of this cardamom syrup scream holidays. It’s the perfect seasonal drink that is sure to impress your guests with little work on your part! Plus the syrup can be made in advance— it’s good for up to two weeks.
We suggest using 10g of syrup for an 8 oz. drink and 20g for a 12 oz., but you can adjust for the sweetness level you prefer!
Our third idea is also a fun activity for the whole family. Make a build-your-own hot chocolate bar!
To do this, set out a wide variety of flavors, toppings, and garnishes. Make a big batch of hot cocoa on the stove. (Making individual servings in the microwave or with your espresso machine if you prefer, works just as well too!) Set out a bunch of different mugs, and invite everyone to create their own hot cocoa masterpiece.
We’ll share some topping and flavor ideas below, but feel free to get creative and add your own! You really can’t go wrong, and letting everyone in on the fun of creating a flavor and topping their drink is just another way to spread Christmas cheer.
