Twelve Days of BonLife: Day 6
It’s the Sixth Day of BonLife! During the Twelve Days of BonLife we are sharing daily blog posts as a gift guide for you. We’re talking about twelve of our favorite specialty coffee products in hopes of making your holiday shopping a little easier. Got a loved one who is crazy about anything coffee-related? We’ve got you covered in this blog series.
Today’s specialty coffee product is an essential piece of equipment: a gooseneck kettle! If you’ve read any of our recipes or brew guides you probably noticed we are always using a gooseneck kettle and instructing you to do the same. It’s because they’re essential for using things like Chemexes or V60s.
This means a good gooseneck kettle is a really nice gift for someone who loves to brew their own coffee, has a home coffee set up, or is a coffee nerd in general. The long spout on gooseneck kettles controls the flow of the hot water as you pour it over the grounds, making your brewing more accurate and controlled. Gooseneck kettles range in price, quality, and complexity. You can find a solid kettle for around $20, or you can spend over $100. Here’s how to shop for the one that’s just right for your coffee lover…
Like we mentioned above, the shape is essential. Make sure it has a long spout, typically referred to as a gooseneck.
On that note, many good kettles have a weighted handle to help slow down the pour & provide balance. Others have intentional handle designs as well, so look at the handle shape whether or not it’s weighted.
One important feature to check for, regardless of your budget, is a built-in thermometer. This truly makes a coffee brewer’s life easier. Being able to keep a close eye on the temperature of the water as you brew helps with accuracy and directly affects taste.
If you really want to treat your loved one, look for electric gooseneck kettles. These provide features like holding the water at your desired temp for extended periods of time. It adds a layer of luxury to a home coffee set up. Stovetop gooseneck kettles work just as well, and, regardless of what you decide to spend, gifting a shiny kettle to your coffee nerd will surely make their holiday season!
We currently do not stock gooseneck kettles here at BonLife. However, we believe a good kettle is essential to brewing our coffee well, and it goes perfectly when gifted in combination with any of our coffee, accessories, or merch! The brand of kettles pictured in the photos here on the blog is also the brand we use in our cafe, and we love it: Fellow.
The last day we can ship out an order for it to arrive by Christmas is December 18. We started the Twelve Days of BonLife in order for it to end that day: we want to give you a few extra days to finish up that last minute shopping with our specialty coffee gift guide in mind.
Orders on our website over $30 qualify for free shipping. Holiday gift sets will only be available through Christmas.
